How can I expect the Lord to use me if all I am doing is hurting and cutting people with my words?

Today’s reading comes from Romans 12:9 – 21.

I believe many have forgotten what these scriptures imply. First, my love is not to be hypocritical. I can’t speak one thing and live another. My love is to be deep for one another as a believer. Yet, people say hurtful words to one another. When did it stop being okay for us to hold a differing opinion yet still have the blood of Jesus, the cross, and resurrection common among us? What happened to honor one another? Do we even know what that term means?

Verse 10 states; “Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Christian Standard Bible)

I give honor to the Lord for all He does in my life. I honor those who stand beside me; I should honor those who may not share the same viewpoint.

I hear about repenting for my sins. I am responsible for the word I do know as well as the action corresponding with said word. How can I expect the Lord to use me if all I am doing is hurting and cutting people with my words? How will the unsaved know the love of God if I do not love those who are in His family?

A final thought comes from verse 21 which states; “Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good”. I am daily bombarded with what is evil in the world. Very rarely do I hear of any good being done. I want to encourage each of us to enquire of the Lord how we are to be His love upon the earth.

Start with personal repentance. Repent for making anything an idol before the Lord. Spend time in worship. Third, read and meditate upon His word. Last, look for divine appointments to tell the world about Him.
